Gifts New Parents Actually Need
1. A Good Diaper Bag
I know before I became a mom I knew I would need a diaper bag, but I didn’t realize how much I would actually have to carry around! You have to have all the essentials like diapers, wipes, bottles, pacifiers, burp cloths, and formula (if using formula). It can get extremely heavy!! I found my saving grace, which was the perfect backpack diaper bag! I still use it to this day with my 2-year-old. It carries all the essentials and while it is still heavy, it helps so much that you can carry this one on your back and keep both of your hands free! That way you can easily carry a car seat, push a stroller, or hold your baby!
2. Stroller and Car Seat Combo
I purchased this exact stroller and car seat combo set and we absolutely loved it! It makes life so much easier when you have a car seat that will snap right into your stroller, especially when you have a newborn. That way you can easily pull the car seat out of your car and snap it into the stroller without having to wake them. They are a little expensive, but they are totally worth the investment.
3. Fisher-Price Infant to Toddler Rocker
This rocker is a wonderful gift that can be used from infant stage all the way to toddler! It features soothing vibrations and toys that can be played with while laying in the chair. This is a great gift for new parents since a small infant is usually held for most of the day. This gives them a place to let them sit or lay independently while also being stimulated by bright colored toys. Another great option is the Fisher-Price Sit Me Up Floor Seat.
4. Pack and Play Set
The pack and play is such a great item to have when you are a new parent! It can be helpful in so many ways. I know most parents use a pack and play for their babies to sleep in their rooms instead of in their cribs. Some pack and plays even come with a changing station on top as well. They are great for quick naps or letting your little crawl around in a safe space.
5. Newborn Care Kits
There are so many products that a newborn could need at any moment. I remember the days of running to the nearest store looking for something because I had totally forgotten to buy it. It would have been great to receive a kit like a newborn care kit that included some of the most commonly used items like nail clippers, hairbrushes, etc. It is also a great idea to stock up on bath type gift sets as well.
I hope this guide helps you find a great gift that new parents actually need! These are all suggestions from my personal experience and items that I found extremely useful, especially during the first 6 months!
