How To Stay Sane While Staying Home
How to Stay Sane While Staying Home
Are you slowly losing it while being stuck at home during this crazy time? I know it can be incredibly hard to be stuck indoors when you are used to being out in civilization, working, and spending time with family and friends. I am going to be sharing some great tips on how to stay sane while staying home.
This can include anyone. It includes parents, single parents, married couples, and single people! We all can benefit from these easy and simple tips on how to stay sane while staying home.
How to Stay Sane While Staying Home
- Find a new hobby: Finding a new hobby is a great way to spend your free time now that you are stuck at home. Is there anything you have always wanted to try but felt like you never had the time? Now is the time to try that! You could start knitting, sewing, building, etc. You could also start learning photography, makeup application, etc. There are so many options!
- Exercise: This is a great time for you to get some exercise! The first excuse we always have is “there is not enough time” but now, we all have the time! You can find hundreds of great workouts on Youtube that are super easy to follow. Surely this will cure your boredom almost immediately!
- Get outside: I totally recommend getting outside and getting some sunshine. It will instantly make you feel better. I would possibly invest in a nice lounge chair so you can lay outside in the sun. I would also purchase some small summer toys for your children (if you have any!) like a small pool, bubbles, or even soccer balls or baseball. I am trying to make this feel like a summer vacation, even though it is not even close! Ha!
- Start a business online: If you have ever thought about starting your own business, now is the time! An online business is a great way to invest in yourself and spend your time wisely. I know it took me years to make the decision to actually start my own blog. I was terrified of spending the money and never getting my return back. But, now I wish I had started years ago! The main thing about starting a new business is you really never know if you will your money back that you have invested, but that’s just it. It’s an investment. You have to take a chance or you will never know! If you are interested in starting a blog, check out How to Start a Profitable Blog on a Budget where it helps you step by step. You can also start your own self-hosted blog for under $3 a month!
- Browse Pinterest: I absolutely love Pinterest. It gives me so many creative ideas. You can literally search for anything! Maybe you can find some new home decor projects to start? Or some styling ideas for what you have in your closet? The options are literally endless! I can browse Pinterest for hours.
- Self-Care: I love me some self-care. I have tons of products under my bathroom sink. I hardly have any time to do face masks, paint my nails, or throw on some self-tanner. But, with all this extra time I can easily carve out a few minutes to do some self-care (even with my two-year-old running around!) This is the time to do what makes you happiest. I love to pour a glass of wine, put on a face mask, and take a bath. It can be anything that you feel is self-care for yourself. - Invent new recipes: If you like cooking you might like to pull together a new recipe using only what you have in your kitchen. I saw somewhere that a couple played a game every night and challenged each other to only use certain ingredients for dinner. I’m sure you would have some interesting meals! Now is the time to bake and cook as much as you would like!
- Organize your house: Now is also a great time to get your house or closet super organized. You can also go through your old items and see if there is anything you want to get rid of or donate. Now would be a great time to downsize! I know I personally need to organize my closet. It’s a total mess. That is the next thing on my quarantine checklist. Lol
- Order on Amazon: Ok, this might not be the best way to invest your time but I have found so many good deals online shopping right now! I think since most stores are closed right now, they are trying to recuperate sales any way they possibly can. I have bought so many things on major sales! It’s a great way to update your house or wardrobe and on a serious budget. If you need some shopping inspiration, check out Shop My Amazon Favorites
- Facetime family and friends: Do you have family and friends that you haven’t spoken to in a while? Why not Facetime them and check up on them? Make sure everyone is doing well and doesn’t need anything. This is a great time to rebuild relationships that you may have once lost. There is no excuse right now!
- Deep clean your house: Now is the time to really break out the cleaning gloves! I would seriously deep clean every area of your house that possibly can. It is great for you and your family’s health as well as just having a clean house!
These are all great ideas to help you stay sane while staying home! I’m sure I can come up with more, but these are the main ones I can think of right now. I know staying home when you are not used to it can be a real struggle. I am trying to devote my time to things I normally wouldn’t. I am trying to exercise more, work on my blog more, and invest more time outdoors and getting my house clean.

I hope this post has helped you cure some of your boredom and helped you stay sane while staying at home! We do not know how long this will last, but I recommend really enjoying this time. We will (hopefully) never see this again in our lifetime when the world slows down like this.
I would really try to maximize the time you have with your family and learning new things about yourself. Invest in yourself and use this time to better yourself and your family! I hope we all come out of this with new hobbies and an enlightened sense of self.
I hope you all are staying safe and healthy!
