How To Stay Active As A Stay At Home Mom
Use Your Time Wisely
If you are a stay-at-home mom, you most likely have a schedule for your day. If you don’t check out Daily Schedule For A Stay At Home Mom To Stay Motivated If you know what your schedule looks like then you can try to schedule some workout time.
I have found the best times are when your children take naps during the day or getting up before your children in the morning and accomplishing what you need to accomplish!
I would also recommend looking for a fitness or exercise journal so you can write down your scheduled workouts for the week. This makes it so much easier to see when and how you need to carve out time for yourself to work out.
Get Outside
A great tip to stay active as a stay-at-home mom is to get outside more often! You can easily walk outside to your front or backyard and let the kids run free. You can get some fresh air while also getting in some walking time. It’s a win-win!
If you have a park close by with a walking track you could always make it a habit to go there on a certain day of the week when things are usually pretty slow at your house. I promise the kids will love it just to be able to get out of the house. You will be accomplishing something that is bettering your health as well as making your kids happy!
Find Something You Enjoy
There are so many different exercise programs and ways to work out that you surely can find something you enjoy. I have recently found that I love cycling. There are so many options now that you can try, even from the comfort of your own home!
There are so many apps, youtube fitness videos, and online memberships that you can try out multiple options until you find something you really love to do.
Take The Long Way
If you are wanting to be more active throughout the day, then always take the long way! If you are shopping, walk further to return your cart. If you are walking your neighborhood, don’t take a shortcut. Take a look at your day and see where you could take “the long way” to encourage you to be more active.
Obviously, this isn’t realistic all of the time but it can help you be more active if you aren’t constantly taking shortcuts throughout the day.
Drink More Water
This is a must for anyone that wants to be more active. You must drink more water! If you struggle with drinking water try adding in a sugar-free flavoring you can purchase at any grocery store or online. You could also try a hydration mix like Liquid IV or Cira Hydration.
Once you start drinking more water, you will feel so much better. In turn, this will make you want to be more active during the day.
Invest In Home Workout Gear
The best thing you can do is make being active easier for you. If you are at home every single day with your kids, then I know how hard it can be to get away and make time for yourself. One of the best purchases I have made for myself is buying a spin bike for our house. Yes, it’s slightly expensive but it’s totally worth it!
I attended spin classes before but was only able to attend class a few times a month if that. It was so hard to leave the house and work around my husband’s schedule. After purchasing my own bike, I have used it almost every day. I honestly love it.
You no longer need to get dressed up or pack up water and snacks. You don’t have to schedule babysitters or work around your significant other’s work schedules. Once you buy your own in-home workout gear, then you are free to use it anytime you can. Not to mention, this will also save you any gym membership fees!
I have linked some options below, including the spin bike I purchased and absolutely love!
Find A Great Supplement/Pre-Workout
Many people forget how much having a great pre-workout or supplement can help your energy and your workout. I know I struggle some days to even want to put on actual clothes so how am I going to work out? I have found so many great pre-workout options that give me a burst of energy that helps me complete my household tasks as well as get a great workout in!
It can be trial and error to find a great tasting pre-workout that works for you. I have listed some below that I love and use all the time that you can start with if you are new to supplements.
Order New Workout Clothes
If you want to be more active during the day, why not purchase new workout clothes? This can make you feel so much more confident about yourself and give you something to look forward to.
I have linked some of my favorite, comfy, and affordable workout clothes that I have been wearing while doing at-home workouts. They are super cute and comfortable and totally worth the price!
